About Us
What kind of insurance agency is Gesla?
Gesla is a full-service independent insurance agency. We represent multiple top-rated carriers, which means we can shop your needs across dozens of companies to find the right coverage at the right price — all under one roof. We specialize in personal lines (auto, home, life) and commercial lines (business, workers' comp, professional liability).
Who do you insure?
We work with individuals, families, and businesses of all sizes — from first-time homeowners to multi-location enterprises. Whether you need a single auto policy or a comprehensive commercial package, we match you with the right carrier and coverage level for your situation.
Are you tied to one insurance company?
No. As an independent agency, we're not contracted to any single carrier. We partner with over 30 A-rated insurance companies and select the best fit for each client's needs. This gives you access to more options, competitive pricing, and advocacy when it matters most — at claim time.
What types of insurance do you offer?
We offer a broad range of personal and commercial coverage:
- Personal: auto, homeowners, renters, condo, umbrella, life, and specialty lines
- Commercial: business owners policy (BOP), commercial auto, general liability, workers' compensation, professional liability (E&O), commercial property, and cyber liability
If you don't see a specific line listed, ask us — we likely carry it through one of our partner carriers.
How do I get a quote?
Getting a quote is easy. You can fill out our quick online form, call us, or visit our office. We'll ask a few basic questions about what you need covered, run the numbers across multiple carriers, and present you with options — no obligation, no pressure. Most quotes are ready within 24 hours.
Coverage & Policies
What does "independent agency" mean?
As an independent agency, we're not owned by or exclusive to any single insurance company. We have contracts with 30+ A-rated carriers and can place your policy with whichever company offers the best fit for your needs and budget. This is in contrast to a captive agent, who represents only one brand. You get more options with us.
What is a deductible and how does it work?
A deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance coverage kicks in. For example, if you have a $1,000 deductible and file a claim for $5,000 in damages, you pay the first $1,000 and your insurer pays the remaining $4,000. Generally, a higher deductible means a lower premium, and vice versa. We'll help you find the right balance for your budget.
What is an insurance premium?
Your premium is the amount you pay for your insurance policy — usually monthly, quarterly, or annually. It's determined by factors like your risk profile, coverage limits, deductible amount, claims history, and the carrier's pricing model. We review your premiums at every renewal and shop the market to ensure you're not overpaying.
How often can I review or change my coverage?
You can contact us at any time to review or adjust your coverage. We recommend an annual review before your policy renews — we'll check your life situation, compare rates across carriers, and make sure you have the right protection. Major life events (marriage, new home, new vehicle, starting a business) are also great times to reassess.
Can I bundle multiple policies together?
Yes — bundling is one of the best ways to save. Most carriers offer discounts when you bundle auto with homeowners, or add life or umbrella coverage. We'll structure your policies to maximize bundling discounts while keeping each line optimized for the best carrier and price.
Claims
How do I file a claim?
Call us at (631) 840-0027 or email claims@gesla.net as soon as possible after an incident. We'll guide you through the process, help you document the damage, and work directly with your carrier to get your claim settled. You don't have to navigate this alone — we handle the heavy lifting.
Will you help me with my claim or is that just the insurance company's job?
Both. Your carrier processes the claim, but we advocate for you throughout the entire process. We help you understand your policy coverage, ensure the claim is documented properly, and push back if the settlement feels unfair. Our track record is that clients who work through us typically receive higher settlements than those who go it alone.
How long does a claim take to settle?
Simple claims (like a fender-bender or small water damage) can settle in 1–2 weeks. More complex claims (home destruction, liability disputes, business interruption) may take several weeks or months. We provide regular updates so you're never left wondering what's happening.
What if my claim is denied?
Denials can be appealed. We'll review the denial letter, compare it to your policy language, and determine if there's grounds for an appeal or escalation. In many cases, a phone call from your agent to the carrier's claims department is all it takes to get things moving. If needed, we can help you engage a public adjuster or legal counsel.
Do you offer 24/7 claims assistance?
Our emergency claims line is available 24/7 for urgent situations — fires, major water damage, theft, or any incident where immediate action is needed. After hours, you can leave a voicemail and we'll return your call first thing in the morning. For non-emergencies, our office hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Billing & Payments
How do I pay my premium?
We accept multiple payment methods: credit card, debit card, bank draft, check, and online payments through our client portal. You can set up automatic payments to avoid missed due dates. Most policies offer monthly, quarterly, or annual payment options — we'll recommend the plan that works best for your budget.
What happens if I miss a payment?
We'll contact you as soon as a payment is overdue and work with you to get it resolved quickly. Depending on your carrier, there may be a grace period (usually 10–30 days) before coverage is affected. If payment isn't resolved, your policy could be canceled — and a lapse in coverage can affect your rates and future insurability. Don't wait until we call — reach out first.
When does my new policy start?
Your new policy typically starts on the effective date you choose at the time of purchase — often the same day or the next business day. If you're switching from another carrier, we coordinate the transition to ensure there's no gap in coverage. You'll receive your declarations page and policy documents before your coverage begins.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes — most carriers offer multiple discounts. Common ones include bundling, safe driver, claims-free, home security systems, paperless billing, and loyalty discounts. We review every applicable discount when quoting and renewing your policy. Many clients save 15–25% just by asking us to find all available discounts.
Can I cancel my policy at any time?
Yes. If you cancel before your policy's effective date, you typically receive a full refund. If you cancel mid-term, you'll receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion (some carriers may charge a small administrative fee). If you're switching carriers, we'll handle the cancellation process for you — no need to contact the old company yourself.
